Component joints are often too deep for proper joint dimensioning. The joint depth should therefore be limited with the closed-cell OTTOCORD PE-B2 backer rod, which at the same time prevents three-sided adhesion so as not to restrict the flexibility of the sealant in the joint. The closed-cell backer rod is compression-resistant and non-absorbent, making it suitable for all indoor and outdoor areas. Press OTTOCORD PE-B2 into the joint with a blunt tool. Avoid sharp objects so as not to damage the closed-cell surface, as this could otherwise cause bubbles to form in the sealant. The diameter of the backer rod should be about 20% larger than the joint width so that it can be pressed into the joint and then remains in an oval shape within it.
